Do not move here. The houses are cheap for a reason. This "city" is so poorly ran and there's nothing to do here unless all of your free time is dedicated to children. My utilities bill keeps increasing despite there being little improvement made to infrastructure. Residents aren't given curbside trash cans (and you can get fined for having bags of trash outside if it's earlier than 6pm the day before pickup) and there's no recycling here anymore, which makes me wonder why they have the audacity to raise our prices. Apparently it's because River Oaks uses Fort Worth's utilities and raises prices on residents despite not giving us the same resources for the same cost as FW. The roads are terrible. They never get worked on and when they do, it takes forever. Most of the repairs are "temporary". Zero urgency from the local government. There are hardly any sidewalks here and it's poorly lit at night, so if you have an active lifestyle, this isn't the place for you. There are emergency sirens going off all the time. The town is a giant speed trap, they won't raise speed limits, and the cops will notoriously pull you over for going just 2 or 3 mph over the limit. There's no public library here anymore, it was discontinued due to budget cuts in 2021, yet the the police department continues to get new vehicles every year. I don't have kids so I can't speak for the schools but if they're a reflection of the rest of the town, you'd be better off raising a family elsewhere. There's no nightlife here, Everything closes super early. Save yourself the headaches and either move to Fort Worth proper or pick a different "suburb" because River Oaks is just so terribly mediocre
